To be honest, I don’t really know what to put on this page.

Before I started this blog, I was an online marketing consultant.

But in all my days of marketing consulting, I never really thought about what I would put on an about page for my personal blog. It feels kinda self-promotiony, but at the same time, I always tell my clients:

They won’t buy your PRODUCT. They will buy YOUR product.

Your readers need a place to get to know you.

I’m going to do my best to make this as quick as possible so you can get back to the good stuff!

So here goes nothing:

TJ McCoy

My name is TJ McCoy. In case you hadn’t noticed already. 🙂

I made my first dollar at 7 years old selling Junie B. Jones books in the cubbies at school so that I could buy ice cream at lunch.

I had my first real business in the 4th grade selling duct tape wallets.

By 5th grade I learned the value of bulk selling when my principal called me to the office(where I thought I was getting in trouble!) to order 25 duct tape bags I had made for several students. -they sold out in the first day. So I made 25 more -they sold out the second day too. And the third.

Then I spent several years doing everything my power to be the greatest basketball player I could be, and I learned a harsh reality of life: sometimes the best thing to do is quit.

So I did.

And then I became student body president, captain of the swim team(and went to state in 4 events), and had 36 hours of college credit before graduating high school with a 4.3GPA.

I also started my first blog ‘Do Big Today’. I amassed nearly 5000 readers in my first 3 months.

Then I went to the University of Tennessee.

And I stopped blogging.

2 weeks in, called my dad and told him I was dropping out.

“That’s fine TJ. Just know that dropping out means early graduation”

A.K.A. you’ll be paying your own bills.

“uhhh, I think I like this school thing actually”

Then after 2 years, a 3.7 GPA, a lot of rambunctious behavior, and only 36 hours left before graduating, I realized I needed to quit school to run my consulting business full time.

Ran that business solely for 6-months, but still felt empty.

So I came back to my first love.

And I started this blog.

As of the moment of this writing, I’m 8 days, 16 cups of coffee, and  7,466 words in, and I’ve never felt better in my life.

The goal of this blog is to teach the keys of success they forgot to teach us in school.

My personal goal is to help you be the best version of yourself you can be.

Now, at 20 years old, I’m obviously no life expert. I haven’t discovered any ‘secret’, and no deity has ‘revealed the truth’ to me.

I’m just a guy who is super-passionate about living life to the fullest, and I am going to do everything I can to learn as much as I can.

And the best part?

I’m going to share all of it with you.

My hope is that you are better in one-way(or another) because of what I share here.

Personally, I have a one-track mind, and I do best when I have a very singular goal. So I will be tackling one project at a time.

Over time this will become a place with multiple online courses and probably books, but for now, I’m starting on my first project: People Skills
